Happy New Year! Join us at this week's Golden Era Recorded Music Project in our neverending crossing of the frontier to the LAND of the GREATEST RECORDED MUSIC: ANALOG LPs from 1948 to 1988!
Tonight we finally let go of the holiday music with perhaps the greatest LP heard over the last 4 weeks: DUKE ELLINGTON & Orchestra playing BILLY STRAYHORN'S version of the NUTCRACKER by TCHAIKOVSKY. Listen and marvel!
We will play side 1 of the NUTCRACKER then hear the 2nd movement of the MAHLER FOURTH SYMPHONY on a pristine ANGEL (EMI) recording by OTTO KLEMPERER and orchestra in the great KINGSWAY HALL!
Then we will hear all SIDE 2 of the NUTCRACKER by ELLINGTON/STRAYHORN. Enjoy the familiar tunes in COMPLETELY NEW DRESS!
We send a Zoom link by email every Wednesday. If you'd like to be added to our mailing list, contact us here.
