LP records from the GOLDEN ERA (1948-1988) come to life at our Golden Era Recorded Music Project on Wednesday nights! Travel around the world with us!
I was surprised to discover that there were TWO LP record companies in this area back in the day (1960-1980) and tonight we will be sampling local vinyl from both, including one featuring our very own RAY ALEXANDER!
While in the mood for shorter pop and jazz pieces we will hear the English comedy duo FLANDERS & SWANN and their SONG OF REPRODUCTION then on to JAPANESE FOLK MELODIES, SHORTY ROGERS, ERNESTO LACUONA (the LATIN GERSHWIN), RERI GRIST,
RERI was the soprano in LEONARD BERNSTEIN'S groundbreaking record of MAHLER'S SYMPHONY 4 and we will hear that symphony's 2nd movement scherzo combining death with voluptuousness. Nothing else like it!
We send out a link for the Zoom meeting every Wednesday by email! Please contact us and let us know if you'd like to be added to the mailing list.
See you all at 7 pm TONIGHT!
