We gather on Wednesday for our Golden Era Recorded Music project and listen to the astonishing LP records, worldwide, AKA the GOLDEN ERA (1948 to 1988).
I have just acquired an ear-opening record from Germany: PAUL BADURA-SKODA playing Mozart on a 1790 Viennese forte-piano (NOT a reproduction). The clearest presentation of that late 18th century forte-piano sound I have yet heard.
Let's spend some time with GIRL SINGERS: First, the MEDICAL MISSION SISTERS of PHILADELPHIA then CYNDI LAUPER and two big 1970's hits.
There is an element of love in all great leaders in any field; PIERRE MONTEUX was adored everywhere he went and fortunately we have a heritage of GREAT recordings that simply ooze his greatness. We will hear 2.
Last week's BILLY TAYLOR again by request and then. . .
Venice, 1823, and SEMIRAMIDE will “Say g'night!"
We send out a link for the Zoom meeting every Wednesday by email! Please contact us and let us know if you'd like to be added to the mailing list.
See you all at 7 pm TONIGHT!
