Tonight's ALL LP installment of the Golden Era Recorded Music Project will start with my recent discovery of the “AUSTRALIAN GLEN CAMPBELL,” BOB LIND and his 1966 hit ELUSIVE BUTTERFLY. I will sandwich him between 2 delicate orchestral excerpts from ERNANNO WOLF-FERRARI.
The evocative tone-poem by HAMILTON HARTY “WITH THE WILD GEESE” of 1910 tells the tale of Irish soldiers who were killed in 1745 fighting in France, then returned home as souls in a flight of wild geese.
The first of our SEASONAL MUSIC selections will be DUKE ELLINGTON and BILLY STRAYHORN in their version of THE NUTCRACKER, followed by the steel guitar of JOHN FAHEY in John's CHRISTMAS FANTASY.
OLD HEIDELBERG will come to life with the the POLKA KING WILL GLAHE and orchestra. Prepare your beverage of choice!
AND the last word will be from GUSTAV MAHLER with his wry and witty song for bass voice and orchestra, “PRAISE OF HIGH INTELLECT.” Dedicated to anyone who has suffered complete misunderstanding by a man or woman who foolishly appropriates the role of critic.
We send out a link for the Zoom meeting every Wednesday by email! Please contact us and let us know if you'd like to be added to the mailing list.
