For tonight's program, we will start with the BRUBECK not played last time.
Then we will be auditioning 2 examples of great conducting in great recording spaces, one of which is tragically gone. EDUARD Van BEINUM and his COCERTGEBOUW ORCHESTRA
are at their golden glowing best in Brahms Symphony 4 and the 80 year old PIERRE MONTEUX does a SLEEPING BEAUTY for all the young conductors to marvel mover.
A new discovery for me is the BRITISH COMPOSER JOHN FOULDS; we will hear part of his 1928 DYNAMIC TRYPTYCH on a beautiful LYRITA recording.
DO NOT SELL at ANY PRICE: The Wild, Obsessive Hunt for the WORLD'S RAREST 78 rpm records is the title of a book that a dear friend gave me to read. YOU WON'T BELIEVE THIS BOOK!!
We send out a link for the Zoom meeting every Wednesday by email! Please contact us and let us know if you'd like to be added to the mailing list.
See you all at 7 pm TONIGHT!
