GERM on ZOOM (July 29, 2020)

The Golden Era Recorded Music project is an ongoing exploration of the ANALOG RECORDING ERA on PLANET EARTH (1948 to 1988). Every Wednesday we play the LP RECORDS of that time, from all corners of the planet and in every style of music. We GUARANTEE you will hear something new each night!

Tonight we will be hearing a MUSICAL LECTURE by possibly the greatest teacher of music ever: LEONARD BERNSTEIN. He will be talking about how Beethoven composed the 1st movement of his SYMPHONY NO. 5 Bernstein plays actual sketches from the composer's notebooks to weave the fascinating fabric of this story.

The second selection is by the heroic DAME MYRA HESS, who played 1700 noonday concerts through the entire 2nd World War to lift the spirits and give solace to the workers, soldiers and civil servants to a beleaguered and battered London. She will play Beethoven's Sonata 30.

And throughout we will hear sprinklings from DOCTOR JOHN'S album IN THE RIGHT PLACE.

We send out a link for the Zoom meeting every Wednesday by email! Please contact us and let us know if you'd like to be added to the mailing list.

See you all at 7 pm TONIGHT!
