Tonight we will be listening to the three albums on vinyl that careful listeners consider to be the BEST of Cat Stevens: MONA BONE JAKON (1969), TEA FOR THE TILLERMAN (1970) and TEASER AND THE FIRECAT (1971).
This British musician was hospitalized in the late 1960's for nearly one year and near death; a miraculous recovery ushered in for him a flood of song-writing and a solo performing career that spawned these three LPs. Poetic imagery of spiritual struggle and growth emerge from his lyrics, set to rhythmically and melodically unique music.
The event is free (from 7 to 8 pm); tea and refreshments will be served.
