The GOLDEN ERA RECORDED MUSIC project continues on Wednesday, June 12, 7-8 pm at the AUDIO & ART showroom, 21 Thomson Avenue, Glens Falls. We will be hearing the music of FOUR GREAT GIRL SINGERS: Doris Day, Rosemary Clooney, Patti Page & Linda Ronstadt.
Doris Day, while famously recorded in many albums of soundtracks from her movies, actually made very few song recitals on LP. The selections from one of her very great records, DUET with Andre Previn, always leave first-time listeners in awe of her musical and interpretive finesse. The noted band leader Nelson Riddle will be heard with both Rosemary Clooney and Linda Ronstadt, the former in the early 60's and the later in her last 3 recordings from the early 80's (before the onset of her tragic career ending affliction). This is a rare listening opportunity to compare the distinctive vocal styles of these two great artists, accompanied by the same band leader. Patti Page rounds out our quartet, contributing some rarely heard material.
All four of our stars will present selections from the Great American Songbook, giving us a unique chance to compare each one's vocal style in their approach to this classic body of musical literature.
This event is free and open to all. Dessert and tea will be served.
